About the Behavior of Vermont Views in the Windows Environment

This section discusses the behavior of Vermont Views for Windows, how Windows behavior differs from Vermont Views in general, and why it may not be possible or appropriate to mimic all of the Vermont Views functions in the Windows environment.

Graphical user interface (GUI) behavior is very different from the character input/output (I/O) behavior to which Vermont View developers are accustomed. Vermont Views for Windows attempts whenever possible to match the behavior of the character environment with an equivalent behavior in the GUI environment. There are times, however, when doing so creates an unnecessary burden on the software developer, or creates behaviors that are not common for the GUI, and thus presents problems for the users of the software applications.
