Vermont Views will automatically determine which adapter is in use and adjust accordingly. Vermont Views can write directly to the MDA, the CGA, or the EGA. When writing to the CGA or EGA, Vermont Views will use colors if a color monitor is present.
Writing directly to a CGA may produce "snow" because there is no way to synchronize the screen writes to the horizontal retrace periods. The original IBM CGA exhibited this problem. CGAs from other manufacturers may not produce snow. If this occurs on your machine and you're not willing to tolerate the "snow," you can add the Boolean field "snow" to the vvtermcap entry for the console.

This will inhibit the memory-mapped feature of Vermont Views and the console will behave like a regular terminal. The "snow" field is checked only when a CGA is in use.
